Alec is an out-spoken supporter of various causes related to public policy, including environmentalism, the governments support of the arts, campaign finance reform, animal rights and gun control. In fact, he has become so well known for his political activism, that he is often rumored to be considering a run for elected office. Alec is a vegetarian and an animal lover who has devoted much of his time and money to the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
